THE new National Pandemic Flu Service (NPFS) has been launched to cope with the growing numbers of swine flu cases across the North West and UK.

The service will make it easier and faster for people who think they may have swine flu to get a diagnosis and to be treated with anti-viral medication if necessary.

The rate for North West people calling their GPs has more than tripled in a week, according to the Royal College of GPs – from 37.2 per 100,000 population to 126.

Call the NPFS for information on 0800 1 513 513 and treatment on 0800 1 513 100, or visit www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu.
