CHILDREN in the Kingsley community will have the chance to explore a new playground after a £133,000 revamp.

The park boasts innovative sports equipment for children and teenagers to build on their fitness levels.

Vale Royal Borough Council development officer Evelyn Thomas said: “We are very pleased to support this project through both the Play Capital Programme and Rural Delivery Programme. We were also pleased to be able to support the project through the Big Lottery – Children’s Play Initiative, which has allowed us and our partners to create new and challenging play facilities across the borough.”

Kingsley parish councillor David Fletcher said: “The parish council is very pleased with the work.

“This new play area will add to our community facilities, providing a great place for the children of the village to play.”

The project and other improvements to the area were funded by Vale Royal Borough Council’s Rural Development Fund, The BIG Lottery, the Landfill Communities Fund of Waste Recycling Group (WRG) and Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN), Kingsley Parish Council and Groundwork Cheshire.

Groundwork Cheshire project manager Beth Brockett said: “This play area looks brilliant. The design allows children and young people to make the most of the space and the equipment and we are very pleased to help create such an asset for Kingsley.”

She added: “We thank the funders for their support and hope the play area, teen shelter and sports wall will provide many years of happy play.”
