Primary school pupils in Chester can look forward to a new school as The Firs School has received planning permission to double in size the current provision.

Building work on the new hall will commence during the Easter holidays and provide a large extra multi purpose space for sporting and arts activities. It should be completed early in the autumn half term of 2016.

Headteacher Lucy Davies said: “We are delighted to have received planning permission and are committed to investing in the future of the school and continuously improving the facilities we offer. We have recently gained the Sainsbury Gold Sports Mark for our commitment to sport and we are very excited about the new hall which will provide extra space for the excellent sporting activities we offer.

“As a school we are also passionate about delivering exceptional arts and cultural education; we are working towards our Arts Council Gold Artsmark and the new hall will enable us to demonstrate our talents in the perfect environment.”
