FROM next week The Chronicle will be delivered FREE to 33,000 homes in Northwich, Winsford and surrounding villages.

It is another exciting page in the 122-year history of The Chronicle in Mid Cheshire as more copies go into more homes to reach more readers than any other newspaper in the area.

This will mean that more people than ever before will be able to enjoy the mix of local and community news, sport and entertainment, while our advertising customers have the opportunity to reach an even wider audience.

The new FREE Chronicle will be delivered to homes in Northwich, Winsford and surrounding villages.

In addition, 'pick-up' copies will be available in some local superstores for those readers and customers who do not receive a home delivered copy.

A series of promotions will ensure that The Chronicle launch as a FREE newspaper will be the talk of the town - look out for our promotions in Northwich and Winsford town centres on Saturday and at Northwich Carnival in the afternoon where goodie bags will be handed out.

There will also be special reader offers in the first edition of our FREE newspaper, which will be distributed from next Wednesday, July 4.

Trinity Mirror Cheshire Editor-in-Chief Eric Langton said: 'We have published a great newspaper in Mid Cheshire for many years.

'Our move to refresh The Chronicle and make it free, distributed to 33,000 homes in the area, reflects a growing trend towards people expecting to get their news and information for free.

'I am sure our new free newspaper will be enjoyed by our loyal existing readers and many thousands of more families in Mid Cheshire.'

Meet the Editor

The Chronicle has appointed Simon Drury as the new editor for the Mid Cheshire area.

He moves to the post after five successful years as news editor of the Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News titles.

Before joining the Weekl y Ne ws, Simon worked as a sub-editor at the Chester Chronicle and as editor of a national news agency.

Simon moves into the editor's chair on the eve of some of the biggest changes in the 122-year history of the newspaper in Mid Cheshire.

The Northwich and Winsford Chronicles will, from next week, be delivered free to 33,000 homes.

And in the next few weeks, Simon will lead the launch of a new companion website which will feature breaking news, sport, what's on locally, blogs, picture slideshows, community news and host sites for local org anisations.

The Middlewich Chronicle is to be merged with the bigger award-winning Sandbach edition and continue as a paid-for weekly newspaper - look out for the blue masthead instead of red.

Simon Drury said: 'I am proud to be helping usher in a new era for the Chronicle.

'We want our readers, old and new, to look to the new Chronicle for an unbeatable line-up of local news, sport, what's on and features.

'And the Chronicle's new look website will give readers a unique chance to share their news and views on the internet.'

He succeeds Paul Brown who has taken up a post as a senior press officer with Wolverhampton City Council.
