A COCKTAIL evening in Chester helped raise cash for a new homeless centre.

The new Red Door Bar in St John Street hosted an event on behalf of Save The Family to promote its new family centre due to open this autumn.

Owner Dave Hinds treated guests to a special cocktail and 50p from every Summer Fruits sold during the next year will be donated to the charity.

Chris Walton, Save the Family’s new centre manager, made his first appearance with the charity after leaving his post at Chester Cathedral to take up the position.

He said: “It was an enjoyable occasion in a great environment and we are very grateful to the bar for putting on this great event.”

Business development manager Lia Kennedy added: “It was a great success and Red Door Chester believes firmly in Save The Family and we are very excited about our continued partnership for the future.”
