A MAN has received a community order after he admitted assaulting a fisherman in the grounds of a farm.

Timothy Lough-Scott, of Well Lane, Ness, pleaded guilty to attacking James Corbett at Oaks Farm, Mollington, on the afternoon of April 10.

Prosecuting, Rob Youds told Chester Magistrates Court Mr Corbett was fishing when he was approached by Lough-Scott, who started shouting at him and told him not to fish there.

Mr Youds said Lough-Scott became aggressive, started shouting and went to push him.

Lough-Scott then pulled Mr Corbett to the ground and punched him to the face, as well as making threats.

Mr Corbett, who was left with a severely swollen eye, contacted the police and Lough-Scott was arrested and interviewed, admitting he was the aggressor.

Defending, Chris Hunt said Lough-Scott had no previous convictions for assault, and the victim had been asked on many occasions not to fish at the spot where the incident happened.

He added: “He accepts he has struck him twice and regrets the incident.”

Magistrates handed Lough-Scott a 12-month community order, to include 60 hours of unpaid work. Lough-Scott must also pay Mr Corbett £125 for his injuries, and £105 prosecution costs.

Lough-Scott was credited for pleading guilty, for showing remorse and co-operating with the police.
