NESTON’S new high tech audio trails have scooped an award for best local project in the 52nd annual Community Pride Competition organised by Community Action Cheshire.
The audio trails can be downloaded on to an ipod and listened to as the visitor follows from each point of interest.
Developed for the Neston Market Town Initiative by local company Audio Guide Productions Ltd, visitors and locals can explore the history of Neston town centre, Neston Parish Church or Parkgate Parade while walking.
Neston couple Julie and David Dean, are behind the company and came up with the idea of producing an audio trail for Neston.
Said Julie: “Neston and Parkgate have much to discover. We worked with members of the local civic societies who provided us with information, based on the existing town trails, and came up with a blend of narration and sound effects. We are thrilled that the project was entered for the award by the Civic Society and even more thrilled that it won.”
The audio trails will appeal to traditional audiences as well as to young people who love technology. They also open up the town trails to anyone who has a visual impairment or reading difficulty.
The free trails can be downloaded from the website portal, which gives access to similar tours and trails in the UK and around the world www.audioguide2go.com and also from Neston’s Community website www.neston.org.uk.
