NEIGHBOURS objected when plans were put forward for an extension to an end terrace home.

The application was submitted at 5 Dimelow Court, Malpas by Mr David Powell.

Mr Powell told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council he was seeking approval for the two storey extension at the side of his house.

His plans were not opposed by Malpas Parish Council but neighbours objected, saying they believed the size, location and height of the new build would “severely” reduce the amount of light to the front their property.

They claimed it is already dark until late afternoon and felt the extension would be out of keeping and would set a precedent for other development in the “already very limited” courtyard.

The property is in a cul-de-sac on the outskirts of the village, according to a report.

The new build had been carefully designed and would appear as an extra home in the terrace rather than a large extension.

Due to the unusual circumstances, planners felt it would not be detrimental to the character of the terrace or that of Dimelow Court.

They did not believe there would be any unacceptable detrimental effect on the amenities or nearby occupiers.

The application was recommended for permission and the borough council agreed the plans.
