A MID-CHESHIRE College student was the toast of Aintree when she landed a top fashion prize at the Grand National.

Russian fashion student Nadia Komar clinched top honours in the Looking Good style competition during the three-day meeting.

Fashion students from across the region were invited to design an outfit that could be worn on Ladies' Day.

The outfit had to stand out from the crowd and project the wearer as the most stylish racegoer at the Grand National.

Twenty-four-year-old Nadia has won three design competitions in the past seven months.

She said: 'I came to live in Northwich from Moscow in 2003 with a passion for fashion and enrolling on the Foundation degree course at the college was the best thing I ever did.'

Judge Kirsty Doyle said: 'She is a very talented student, good luck to her in her career.'
