CHILDREN at The Dingle Primary School in Haslington have every reason to blow their own trumpets after playing their way to success in a competition.
The school's brass band and its training band won awards at the Alderley Edge Music Festival after training hard after school.
Headteacher Simon Jones said: 'The school band gained third place and the training band, made up of younger children, was fourth.
'They competed in the orchestral class while six pupils also entered solo classes.
'It's an excellent achievement when you consider they were up against schools from across the region, most of them not in the state sector.'
The bands, led by Kevin Birch and Jackie Davies, train every Friday after class.
Jackie said: 'The children had a marvellous experience.'
