YOUNG singers from eight primary schools joined with Halton High pupils to exercise their vocal cords in front of a packed audience as part of Halton Sings.

More than 200 children took part in the event, which gave youngsters the opportunity to celebrate the joy of singing.

Grainne McCormick, head of music at Halton High, co-ordinated the event, supported by Graeme Rudland, Halton music adviser, and Amy Bebington, vocal trainer and conductor.

Ms McCormick said: 'This event was an excellent opportunity for schools to come together and perform an energetic and vibrant repertoire. Staff and pupils from all schools that participated were impressed by each other's contribution and thoroughly enjoyed the event.'
