A DEFENDANT on trial for the murder of 47-year-old father of three Gary Newlove was due to be taken to the dentist at 12.15pm today because of pain from an abscess.

The youth, who can not be named for legal reasons, will be visiting a Chester city centre dentist under supervision and possibly in hand cuffs.

After eight days of jury deliberation at Chester Crown Court and eight weeks of trial the five teenagers have yet to find out their fate.

They are alleged to have set upon 47-year-old Gary Newlove after he came out of his house in Station Road North, Fearnhead, Warrington, to confront them after they attacked his wife’s car.

The prosecution claimed he was punched to the ground and kicked ‘as if he were a football’. He died at Warrington General Hospital two days later.
