RESIDENTS of Newton House elderly persons home have been enjoying the company of Chester MP Christine Russell.

Joining them for the coffee morning last Wednesday, Mrs Russell paid a visit to residents to give them the opportunity to raise issues with her.

The main concern among residents was a leaking skylight during rainy weather.

Mrs Russell said: “I’ve arranged a meeting with some of the senior managers from the housing trust to share the issues of the residents with them, such as the torrential rainstorm a few weeks ago which caused water to come through one of the skylights.”

The MP has also provided a leaflet detailing the entitlements and services for elderly people.

Residents had alerted Mrs Russell to their concerns over changes to the Chester Care Services wardens and the level of service charge required of them.

She said: “Hopefully, while working with the housing trust, we will be able to solve these problems for residents. There is a wonderful sense of community at Newton House, they really do look out for each other.”
