EDDISBURY MP Stephen O’Brien was out and about in the Cheshire countryside on Friday talking to his constituents.

He paid a visit to Ashton Hayes Primary School to address their morning assembly before meeting Year 5 and 6 pupils and their peers from Huxley Primary School to talk about their visit to parliament today (Thursday).

Before his arrival, the children had been researching the role of Parliament, their local MP and his new job as an International Development Minister in the new Coalition Government. They had prepared a number of questions for Mr O’Brien and took part in an active question and answer session.

Headteacher Chris Priddey said: “The children asked Mr O’Brien some very insightful questions, some he was very amused at because he had never been asked them before. From the answers to the questions the children wrote Mr O’Brien’s biography.

“The children are now very excited about their trip to Parliament today.”

On Friday afternoon Mr O’Brien took a trip to Delamere Forest where he met Graeme Prest, the Forestry Commission’s District Manager for the North West.

They discussed the plan to turn Delamere Forest into a top, fully sustainable visitor destination. They the discussed the setting up of a steering group which will look into how best to improve the visitor experience and how Delamere Forest can support and boost the visitor economy of Mid Cheshire.
