BOROUGH MP Andrew Miller has met breast cancer patient Celia Webber to discuss services for people with the disease.

The meeting took place as part of Breakthrough Breast Cancer's Campaigns & Advocacy Network's (Breakthrough CAN) annual lobby of Parliament, known as the Westminster Fly-In.

Mr Miller said: 'I was pleased to meet Celia and to be able to discuss our local breast cancer services with someone who has a wide experience of them.

'More than 41,000 people receive a breast cancer diagnosis each year in the UK and, unfortunately, the quality of care patients receive can sometimes vary depending on where they live.

'I have great admiration for members, like Celia, who work hard throughout the year to ensure their voices are heard and play a key role in influencing and informing breast cancer services at a local level.'

Ms Webber said: 'I wanted to help my MP understand what's good and bad about breast cancer services and to work with him to improve things.

'With the advances in understanding breast cancer, more and more women are surviving the disease but early detection and treatment is vital.'
