A six-year-old boy was the lucky winner of an iPad at a Robots Live event organised as part of Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) exhibition.

Visitors to the WEEE love Robots event, held in Northwich, were entered into a prize draw and Kyan Foreman, who attended the event with his mum, was awarded his iPad by ZAP the WEEE superhero. The Waste and Recycling team receiving received more than 1000 competition entries.

The aim of the event was to promote the importance of reuse and recycling of old electrical and electronic goods to local residents and involved an exhibition of local community and environmental initiatives.

There were four robot wars style shows where people could choose to watch heavyweight, lightweight and specially designed fighting robots pitch battle against one another in a series of exciting bouts.

Robot event proves to be a smashing success

The crowd joined in by cheering on their favourite robots and voting for any winner left standing at the end of each battle.

Cabinet member for environment and community councillor Mark Henesy said: “The Waste and Recycling team have put a lot of work and effort into this campaign and the event is a highpoint of their activity.

“The event gave visitors the opportunity to find out more about the local recycling facilities that are available to them and their unwanted electrical and electronic items. They will hopefully now understand how beneficial recycling these items is to the local area and community.”
