Police are appealing for information following an assault in Moulton.

Between 12.30am and 12.45am on Monday, July 14, the victim, a 25-year-old woman from Winsford, was walking along the A533 Davenham bypass, near to the Jack Lane junction when she was assaulted.

The victim, who was pushing her bicycle at the time, was grabbed around her waist from behind by an unknown offender.

The offender attempted to pull the victim on to a grass verge and then punched her in the middle of her back causing her to fall to the floor, and on to her knees.

The victim was able to break free and headed away from the scene to safety.

As a result of the punch, the victim was left winded and sustained grazing to her knees from the fall.

PC Louise Glavin, from Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are committed to doing all we can to trace whoever is responsible for this serious offence and are urging anyone who has any information, which could assist with our enquiries to come forward.

“The incident took place in the early hours of the morning but there is a chance someone may have seen or heard something significant. If so, we would ask you to contact us.”
