A driver escaped unharmed from a late night road smash in Tattenhall.

The man, who was not local to the area, is said to have misjudged the severity of a right hand bend on Chester Road shortly before midnight on Saturday (August 31).

His Ford Focus was a write off but he was not injured in the collision.

PC Adam Norton, who stressed that the driver had not been drinking, said: "Two patrols attended the scene and the road remained open, although the car blocked one side of the carriageway.

"The vehicle had to be removed by Autolift as there was significant front end damage and the front axle had completely broken as a result of the impact."

Anyone with any information about the incident  should call Cheshire police on 101.
