AFTER 17 years, Trevor Ross has retired from his role as chief observer at Widnes, Runcorn and Districts Institute of Advanced Motorists.

During his time in the post, Mr Ross has provided the group with a wealth of knowledge acquired in 26 years of police service, many of which were spent as a traffic officer.

Mr Ross has helped the group turn about 800 associates into full members of the institute.

The group has a social evening every month at the Royal British Legion, Main Street, Halton Village, on the first Tuesday of every month at 8pm.

Anyone interested in joining the group can come along to the next enrolment evening on October 27 or contact group secretary Christine Bessant on 01928 572735.

At the next social evening on November 1, the guest speaker will be local historian Alex Cowan. All welcome.
