A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after being thrown from the saddle in a crash near Chester .

The man's black BMW bike collided with an embankment on Little Rake Lane in Chorlton-by-Backford on Sunday (July 24).

Police were called to the scene at 3.12pm.

The rider had been trapped underneath his bike and was freed before being treated by paramedics.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said he was taken to Aintree Hospital by the air ambulance as a precaution.

They added the motorcyclist is believed to have suffered a concussion, but was otherwise unscathed.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service statement said: “A motorcycle had left the road and gone into a field, leaving the rider trapped underneath the machine.

"Firefighters stabilised the rider and gave him first aid while they waited for the air ambulance to arrive.

“Liaising with medical staff they assisted with the air ambulance evacuation.”

In the last two weeks there have been four incidents involving motorcyclists close to Chester, including one crash on Sealand Road on July 21.
