A repeat of the chaos caused by the closure of junction 12 of the M56 may be on the cards for commuters this Tuesday morning.
There are reports of slow traffic eastbound between junction 12 at Runcorn and junction 11 at Preston Brook, and a vehicle has broken down in a live lane near junction 11.
Motorists faced severe tailbacks of up to one hour on Monday.
The major slip road has been closed to allow construction workers from the Mersey Gateway Project to develop the new link between Halton and the M56.
According to Mersey Gateway, who are carrying out the work, it will be back open to traffic on Monday, November 16.
Motorists are advised to allow more time for their journeys during this period.
