TORRENTIAL downpours have caused a number of houses in Chester to flood this afternoon (Tuesday).

Emergency services were dispatched to a property on Tarvin Road at about 1.30pm to help remove water from the front of the house.

Crews also had to set up a portable pump and assisted with salvage operations by moving furniture to a first floor level.

And earlier this morning firefighters were called to reports of flooding on Abbots Terrace, Parkgate Road in Bache.

They assisted by pumping water out of the houses and the damage is not thought to be severe.
