More than 200 jobs under threat at Chester-based bank

A UNION claims more than 200 jobs are under threat at a Chester-based bank due to the global credit crunch.

HBOS is closing one of its specialist mortgage brands, The Mortgage Business (TMB), which has its headquarters in Queens Park Road, Handbridge, Chester.

Union Unite says this will have implications for 216 Chester-based staff as well as 21 nationwide sales people and 10 underwriters at a remote site.

HBOS is striving to redeploy workers within HBOS’ Chester base with the union anticipating about 150 employees will be found alternative jobs and about another 100 will leave through voluntary redundancy.
