A teenager representing Chester in Miss Teen Great Britain has raised funds for a children’s hospice.

Amy Holden, 17, hosted a pamper evening at Saks Hairdressers in the city to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

An entry fee of £10 included a treatment of their choice for guests and a glass of bubbly and there was a raffle, cake stall and a competition to guess the weight of the Thorntons Easter hamper.

So far the evening has raised around £250.

Amy and her mum Samantha have been clients at Saks for the last two years and when manager Nikki Hughes learned of her involvement in the beauty contest she suggested ways in which her salon could help with the fundraising.

On the night all the staff gave their time and support for free.

Samantha said: “Myself and Amy would like to thank all the staff involved, especially Nikki, for their effort in making the evening a success.”

The Grand Final of Miss Teen Great Britain will take place in Blackpool on Sunday, August 31. If any local companies are interested in sponsoring Amy for the event at a cost of £249 they can get in touch on 01244 677074.
