A HOST of characters marched through the main streets of Chester for the Winter Watch Parades.
Different groups in the community including schools, University of Chester, Scouts and residents took part in the parades.
Starting from the Forum shopping centre, the parade marched through St Werburgh Street, Northgate Street and Bridge Street.
The university performed a dance while leaders of the Scouts groups performed a sword fight.
The parade also featured a samba band, chefs with oversized food, angels, a Roman emperor and a model king.
The parade was set up in 1498 to celebrate the winter solstice, when community leaders would hand the keys of the city to the early police force ensuring Chester was safe for all the celebrations.
The festival, which was relaunched in the late 1980s, concluded this year with a fire breathing finale.
