STAND-UP superstar comic Michael McIntyre is coming to Chester for one night only.

The popular comedian will be performing new material in a one-off gig at the Laugh Inn club on Sunday, June 3.

Demand to see Michael McIntyre was highly evident as the 300 tickets for the gig, which were only available online, sold out within less than 10 minutes.

Laugh Inn co-owner John Locke said the club was looking to set up a membership scheme to counter the fact some potential punters were unhappy at not being able to purchase tickets.

He said: “When you have a venue that is just 300 capacity and there is a performer who can sell out 10,000 tickets, demand is going to be high.

“We did make it as fair as possible by setting it up just through Ticketweb – it was first come, first served. We will be setting up a membership scheme in the future.

“Michael McIntyre is a big name and we are looking at getting more big names appearing at the club in the future, as well as continuing other events such as our free open mic nights every Tuesday.

“It has been fantastic over the past 12 months and everyone seems very happy. It’s a lot of hard work and effort by everyone but we all enjoy what we’re doing here.”

The June gig means there are now three top comics who will be performing to packed-out audiences at the Station Road club.

John Bishop, who raised more than £1.6m in this year’s Sport Relief challenge, will be on stage at the club on Thursday and Friday, June 7 and 8, while Russell Kane is on stage on Monday and Tuesday, June 25 and 26.
