YOUNGSTERS at Ditton Primary have been busy making and sending Christmas cards to soldiers from Widnes fighting in Iraq.

Pupils gave the soldiers a boost by giving every card a special Christmas wish. The cards were posted last week and arrived in the Middle East in time for Christmas Day.

The school has been working overtime during the festive period after its pupils decided they must do something for abandoned orphans and helpless children in countries such as Romania, Belarus, Bosnia, Croatia and Armenia.

Each pupil from the school donated a shoebox full of toys and gifts to light up Christmas for children who are less fortunate than themselves.
