TWO men and a boy have been charged with affray following reports of a street brawl on Monday.

The alarm was raised at about 11pm, with callers saying a group of men were attacking each other in Cross O' The Hill Road in Nomansheath.

The male brawlers were said to be members of two feuding families.

Officers were quickly at the scene and arrested six males.

Two Nomansheath teenagers have been charged with affray and assault and a 47-year-old from Larkton, Malpas, has been charged with affray.

Three Nomansheath locals - a 16-year-old, 42-year-old and 35-year-old - are on bail.

Sgt Ian Morgan, who is leading the investigation, said: 'We take all reports of violence very seriously and the rapid response given to these reports is testament to that. We have already made significant progress with this enquiry and the courts will now deal with the people who have been charged.

'However, there is still work to do in this case and I'd like to reassure people that every effort will be made to bring this investigation to a positive conclusion.

'The Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit is a large one, with many small communities. Offending behaviour has the potential to have a real detrimental effect on close-knit villages and that is not acceptable, nor will it be tolerated.'
