RAIL users are preparing for talks in their bid to get passenger services reintroduced between Middlewich and Northwich.

Members of the Middlewich Rail Link Campaign (MRLC) have been contacted by Cheshire County Council with a view

to setting up a preliminary meeting 'to discuss the future of Middlewich railway station', in particular its reopening after nearly 40 years.

But discussions have been postponed until next month, giving the MRLC time to review the issue at its meeting on Tuesday,

August 30, at the Boar' Head Hotel.

MRLC's Dave Roberts and Cllr Mike Parsons are identifying organisations that need to be present at the meeting, but Mr Roberts warned nothing would happen quickly.

He said: 'This meeting is only a prelude to further

talks aimed at the ultimate setting up of a steering group. In other words, talks about talks. Our meeting on August 30 could thus include talk about talks about talks.'
