PLANS were rejected for a 20m high replacement mobile phone mast.

Councillors overturned the advice of their officers and refused the application, put forward by Orange in open countryside at Green End Farm in Broughton.

The installation would replace equipment removed from the roof of Broughton Junior School in 2005, Flintshire County Council's planning and development control committee was told in a report.

A temporary mast erected in the meantime at Green End Farm would also have been removed.

The replacement lattice mast with three antennas, two dishes and five ground based equipment cabins was proposed on land 300m from the farmstead and 200m from Broughton.
