A balaclava-clad thief robbed a woman in her sixties in Ellesmere Port.

The frightening incident unfolded as she was walking near to the subway under the M53 at the end of Station Road.

The unknown man approached the victim from behind on a bicycle and stole her handbag before riding away in the direction of Church Street.

Now police are appealing for information about the robbery, which took place last Thursday (November 10) at around 5.40pm.


DC Mark Hughes from Ellesmere Port CID said: “Thankfully the victim in this case was not injured as a result of the incident. However, she was left extremely shocked and I’m keen to trace the person responsible so they can be brought to justice.

“We are following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of our investigation I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have seen anything suspicious.”
