AFTER a year's wait for a new vicar to be appointed, the village of Weaverham now has two!
The new team are husband and wife Andrew and Jenny Brown, who have been married for five years and regard their ministry as a team effort.
They were inducted at St Mary's Church on Monday with Andrew, 40, taking on the duties of vicar and Jenny, 28, those of associate vicar.
The duo met at a church in Cheadle in 1999 and trained for the ministry at Oak Hill College, London. They qualified together and have been working since then as curates in Hyde.
Before taking holy orders Andrew, a computer engineering graduate, designed computer systems for heavy industry and Jenny worked as a clown to help pay her way while working towards a degree in performing arts.
They share similar interests including a love of music and both sing and play the guitar. Andrew is also a dab hand on the drums and was looking forward to making his musical debut on the church drum kit during the induction.
He also rides a Yamaha motorbike and is a qualified football referee - while Jenny can turn her hand to a range of circus skills including juggling and fire eating.
