NINE months of fundraising activity at Marks & Spencer stores in Chester has raised thousands of pounds for a cancer charity.

Staff raised £21,000 which will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, one of the company’s official nominated charities.

Activities will include fashion shows, a 12-mile bike ride, the Wirral Walk and auctions, as well as hosting a jubilee party for retired staff.

The money will go towards the charity’s work in prevention, promotion of early and precise diagnosis, and the development of better treatment and care.

Store manager Jonathan Bradburn said: “We are delighted to have raised so much from our store alone and to get the community involved in raising vital funds.

“A number of the team have personal connections to the cause and so we tried to think of lots of creative ways to raise money, involving all staff across the store as well as our customers.”
