The chief executive of Marketing Cheshire is a woman to watch.

Katrina Michel has been hailed one of this year’s Top 100 Women to Watch in the Cranfield School of Management’s Female FTSE Board Report 2016, a showcase of the broad and deep female talent pool for UK PLC to draw from.

One of the few tourism representatives to be featured and one of only three women in the North West, Katrina was recognised for her strong marketing and business development background, having worked for a number of multinational communications agencies delivering award winning campaigns.

In her most recent role at Marketing Cheshire, a private/public sector partnership dedicated to tourism and place marketing, Katrina plays a key role in promoting and growing Cheshire’s visitor economy nationally and internationally, as well as leading on strategic marketing for the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership to raise the profile of Cheshire and Warrington as a prime visitor and investment location.

She said: “To be included in a national list of female talent is a real honour. Marketing Cheshire is a small organisation with a wide reaching impact – the tourism sector in Cheshire and Warrington is worth nearly £3bn and we play a key role in driving up visitor numbers and putting Cheshire on the map as a quality destination. For this to be recognised amongst other female leaders from big companies across a wide range of sectors is a great achievement.”

The Women to Watch list, published as part of the Female FTSE report, is now in its seventh year. It aims to showcase the broad range of female talent from a wide range of backgrounds, from women who hold senior executive roles in FTSE 350 firms and other significant organisations such as large non-listed companies, major charities, professional services firms, educational institutions and NHS Trusts.
