One of the main routes into Chester from North Wales was closed after a crash this morning (Thursday, March 26).

Police shut the A548 Sealand Road after the smash between a black Jaguar and a white tipper lorry at about 9.30am this morning.

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that a man was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital with "non life-threatening" injuries.

The road was re-opened at around 10.40am.

Emergency services including two ambulances and three fire engines were called to the scene. Traffic was diverted through Blacon and Saughall.

A North Wales Police spokesman said the collision, involving a black Jaguar and a white tipper lorry, happened near Dandy's Topsoil.

A spokeswoman from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service added: “We were called to a road traffic collision on Sealand Road, Flintshire, at 9.27am this morning.

“Three appliances have attended – two from Deeside and one from Wrexham."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed they sent two ambulances to the scene, but have not been able to confirm if anyone has been injured in the collision.

Arriva Buses Wales tweeted: "Service update @10:00, delays are to be expected on #Chester services 10/10a due to a serious RTC on Sealand Road, Chester."
