A man sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a car as he was changing a tyre on the A556 in Northwich on Sunday (July 26).

Police were called to the two-vehicle collision involving a Jaguar XJ6 and Vauxhall Astra at 7.24pm.

A spokesman for Cheshire Constabulary said: “The driver of the Vauxhall, a 43-year-old man from Newton-Le-Willows, was changing a wheel on his car when the Jaguar collided with the vehicle and driver.

“He was taken to The Royal Stoke Hospital and is still undergoing treatment to serious injuries.”

Two children – aged nine and 12 – who were in the Vauxhall at the time of the incident were uninjured but taken to Leighton Hospital as a precaution, while the driver of the Jaguar – a 25-year-old man from Northwich – was left shaken but uninjured.

Anyone who saw either vehicle before the collision is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 833 of July 26.
