A man had to be cut free from a vehicle following a collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M56 at around 1am on Thursday morning (February 5).

A spokeswoman for Cheshire police said the incident involved an HGV, a Mercedes flatbed truck and a car which collided between junctions 15 and 14.

Fire crews from Ellesmere Port and Chester attended the scene and firefighters freed the man from the vehicle using cutting gear.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed a man was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital by ambulance following the incident.
