A DRAMATIC rescue took place today after a swimmer got into trouble in the River Dee.

Police could not name the man or confirm any details, but released a statement which read: “At just before 2pm today, Thursday July 9, Cheshire Police attended an incident at the river Dee in Chester, whereby a man had got into difficulties whilst swimming in the river.

“The casualty, who has not yet been formally identified, was rescued from the river by members of the public, and remains in a critical but stable condition at the Countess of Chester Hospital.”
