A DRUNKEN race-goer shouted racial abuse at a black bar worker.

And after resisting arrest by police officers outside the Fat Cat bar on Lower Watergate Street, Scott Bennett, 23, was found with both cocaine and cannabis.

Bennett, of Sandy Way, Connah's Quay, admitted a racially aggravated public order offence, possession of both a Class A and Class B drug and resisting a police constable.

Magistrates heard how the drama unfolded at 6.30pm on May 11 after Bennett had enjoyed a day at Chester Races.

Sue Gibson, prosecuting, told how he was ushered away from the Fat Cat by a black bar worker because he was 'obviously drunk'.

But Bennett responded with a volley of racial abuse.

Erwin Banforth, defending, said Bennett was deeply ashamed.

Bennett was given a 12-month community sentence, including 120 hours unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to the police officer and £20 in court costs.
