A DISABLED man claims he is living in terror as thugs step up attacks on his home.

Jeffrey Claydon, 52, of Abbey Close, Widnes, said he has reached his wits' end over what to do about a constant catalogue of abuse and harassment which he says is being launched at him without provocation.

Mr Claydon has said in the past the police have been 'doing a good job' in trying to tackle the culprits, but he said his worries have now been compounded as he was unable to contact the police on the last occasion he was confronted by young thugs.

The latest incident involved threats being made against him and he says stones and objects are still being hurled at his windows and the barrage of verbal abuse and taunts continues relentlessly.

In recent months Mr Claydon has had late night visits from aggressive youths demanding to be let into his home and knocking on the doors and windows. He has lost count of the number of objects - including a foot long piece of wood - which have been hurled at his property.

And over Christmas the latest game being played by his tormentors involved jumping over garden fences and causing damage in the process.

Police have stepped up community support officer patrols in the area but the victims which include some of Mr Claydon's neighbours have so far been unable to identify the culprits.

Despite the police action, Mr Clay-don said he is becoming fed up with the problem.

He said: 'The kids have been at it again, banging on my window and banging on the door. They have been throwing stones at the window and gesturing with fists and hand movements, then saying 'you are going to get it'.

'I am absolutely terrified of what will happen next.'
