A MAN required hospital treatment after he fell from a ride at the fair on Chester’s Little Roodee car park.

The man, who suffered minor injuries, was apparently riding on the Super Bob attraction when the accident happened just before 4pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Health and Safety Executive is gathering more information before deciding whether to launch a full-scale investigation.

North West Ambulance Service spokesman Fiona Bateman said: “A male, about 20 years old, was thrown off a ride. We were informed by police at about 3.45pm. He went to the Countess of Chester Hospital by ambulance.”

Cheshire Police spokesman Sgt Jason Murray added: “We attended after a male had fallen from the Super Bob ride.

“He was treated at the Countess and later discharged. His injuries were non-life-threatening. There were no further actions by police.”

Health and Safety Executive regional spokesman David Harris said: “We will make initial inquiries and then we will make a case as to whether or not there are grounds for an investigation.”

The Super Bob ride involves passengers travelling in small cars, secured by a safety bar, which travels around on a circular track at speed. Nobody at the funfair was available for comment at time of going to press.

Anthony Harris and family present Pat Collins Wonderland Funfairs will be at the Chester site until Saturday, May 8.
