A MAN spent time on a life support machine after being found unconscious in Ellesmere Port.

The 26-year-old had been found by a passer-by in Victoria Road in the early hours of Friday.

He was suffering from head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital shortly after 4am. He is now off the life support machine and has regained consciousness.

Cheshire police say it is unclear as to how he received his injuries, which occurred some time between 1-3.30am.

A police spokeswoman added: 'The man didn't have any ID on him at the time and we didn't know who he was.

'All we had was a description of his tattoos, and we now know who he is.'

Officers say they are not seeking witnesses.
