A man found dead at Creamfields on Friday (August 26) has been named locally as 26-year-old Joe Sheppard, from Cornwall.

It is understood Mr Sheppard, who was married with a child, suffered breathing difficulties in his tent at the Cheshire festival on Friday night.

Paramedics were alerted but they were unable to save him.

According to the Plymouth Herald , he is thought to be from the Camelford area of Cornwall.

A friend of the family said he “was a very big strong lad” and worked at a car garage in Bideford, North Devon.

They said: “He was a lovely, pleasant person. I’m lost for words to be honest.”

Creamfields, the UK’s biggest dance music festival, took place in Daresbury from August 25-28.

A Cheshire police statement said: “We were notified following concerns for a man in one of the campsites and, sadly, a 26-year-old man from the Cornwall area passed away.

“Formal ID is to take place and we are awaiting the results of the post mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”

The statement reminded people attending the event “that we want them to have a great time, but do so safely”.

“Officers continue to take positive action against those who risk others’ lives by attempting to bring illegal drugs onto site.

“The Constabulary wants to remind people that drug supply at Creamfields will not be tolerated and officers will take robust action where necessary.”
