A 25-year-old man sadly died after suffering horrific burns.
Medics battled to save the casualty who was taken to hospital by air ambulance after being discovered on fire in a field off Hollands Lane, Kelsall, about 5pm on Saturday (September 19).
A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “There were reports of a man on fire in a field by Hollands Lane.” She added: “People there were trying to extinguish the fire.”
The spokeswoman confirmed the casualty was airlifted to Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital which has a specialist burns centre.
Firefighters from Chester were also called to the scene.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to a man suffering burns in Kelsall. On arrival the crew assisted paramedics and the casualty was airlifted to hospital. Sadly, it was later confirmed that the man had died.”
Cheshire Police attended the incident where officers conducted an investigation. Spokeswoman Rachel Hayes said: "There is no suspicion of third party involvement."
