A MOTORCYCLIST was killed and a pedestrian seriously injured in two crashes on Chester roundabouts just a couple of days apart.

At 9am yesterday, a woman was taken to hospital with head injuries after colliding with a car near Hoole roundabout, by the Doubletree by Hilton hotel.

Less than 48 hours earlier, married dad-of- three John Pollitt, 45, was killed in a head-on collision with a combine harvester on a roundabout on the A56.

Mr Pollitt, 45, of Parkland Drive, Elton, was a technician with Ince-based fertiliser company Growhow and part-time taxi driver with Village Taxis. He was riding his distinctive blue Suzuki bike towards Helsby when the collision happened at 10am on Monday.

North West Ambulance Service took Mr Pollitt to the Countess of Chester Hospital but he died from his injuries.

The woman involved in yesterday’s crash has not been identified but Cheshire Police spokeswoman Shelly Williams said: “The collision involved a silver Volkswagen car and a female pedestrian.

“The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and has been taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was uninjured.”

Anyone with any information on either incident should call Sgt Rachel Gallagher at Chester Police roads unit on 0845 458 0000.
