A MAN accused of raping a 71-year-old Chester woman appeared before Chester magistrates on Tuesday, nearly 15 years after the alleged crime took place.
Paul Robertshaw, now 45, who lives in a caravan in Stocksbridge Lane, Doncaster, is alleged to have broken into the home of the woman, before violently attacking her and subjecting her to rape.
Police had arrested Robertshaw on Monday in connection with the crime, which is alleged to have happened in November 1996.
No bail application was made and Robertshaw was remanded in custody. He is to appear at Chester Crown Court on November 7.
