A 48-year-old man from Little Budworth has been charged and remanded in police custody following the discovery of a large-scale cannabis farm at a house in the village.

Anthony Edward Robinson of Mill Lane appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on February 20, charged with the possession of a Class B drug, producing a Class B drug, and assaulting a police constable, following his arrest on February 18.

Mr Robinson is due to appear at Chester Crown Court on March 3 for a plea and case management hearing.

Inspector Keith Curbishley from Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit said: "Drug-related activity is not acceptable and local officers will continue to react swiftly and positively to any information in relation to drug related crime in the area."

A 52-year-old woman who was also arrested in relation to the incident has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
