A 23-year-old man has been charged with robbing two victims in Chester and wielding a hammer and screwdriver in public.

Dylan Hyams, of Wargrave Road, Newton-le-Willows, allegedly took £1,700 from Elaine Crank and Gareth Johnson on October 26.

He is believed to have been brandishing the weapons in Parkgate Road, the A540, on the same day.

Hyams is also charged with robbing £2,000 from Michael Catling in Ashley less than two weeks earlier on October 13.

On top of that he faces counts of wielding the screwdriver and hammer in Cow Lane in the village.

Hyams made his first appearance at Chester Magistrates Court on December 10, he was remanded in custody with his next hearing at Chester Crown Court on December 22.

The 23-year-old is charged with two counts of robbery and four counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
