A MAN has been bailed in connection with a serious road traffic collision which led to the partial collapse of a Chester pub.

Police and other emergency services were called to the Bridge Inn, Tarvin Rd, Boughton, at 6.37am on Sunday after two cars collided with the pub causing serious damage.

Detectives had been seeking to trace a man from one of the vehicles who allegedly left the scene.

This morning (Tuesday) the 31-year-old, from Chester, attended a police station in the city where he was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, criminal damage, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, failing to report a road traffic collision and driving whilst unfit.

He helped police with their enquiries and has subsequently been bailed until August pending further investigations.

Two men and a woman were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Nobody at the pub was hurt but the premises remains closed.
