A MAN has been arrested in connection with a serious road traffic accident which led to the partial collapse of a Chester pub.

The 31-year-old, from Chester, attended a police station in the city this morning (Tuesday) where he was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault, criminal damage, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, failing to report a road traffic collision and driving while unfit.

He is currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.

The incident was reported on Sunday morning . Police and other emergency services were called to the scene on Tarvin Rd at 6.37am. The collision involved two cars, which had collided with the Bridge Inn pub.

Two men and a woman were taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital to be treated for their injuries. Nobody at the pub was hurt but the premises remains closed until repairs are made.
